York Ballroom opens its doors
February 22, 2016 – The York Ballroom opened its doors for the first time when the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce held its monthly membership luncheon on February 25, 2016 at the RBC Convention Centre.
The Chamber’s annual State of the City Address with Mayor Brian Bowman is the signature event in the membership luncheon series which attracted over 1,100 people. This is the largest Chamber event and is the only event where the Mayor of Winnipeg delivers a message directly to the business community.
With its $180 million expansion complete, the RBC Convention Centre was ready to show Winnipeg’s business leaders its 24,000 square foot main floor York Ballroom. This premium space was filled with tables for the luncheon but it can be completely divided into four meeting or conference rooms.
“With its high ceilings, unique lighting system and view to the street level plaza outside the windows along York Avenue, this ballroom is a highlight of the south building,” said David Chizda, director of sales and business development. “We are so pleased to host this event and have the opportunity to show our new space in action.”
Guests were invited to walk across the new bridge from the north building or enter through the new doors on Carlton Street. They gathered in the main floor pre-function and registration area outside the York Ballroom and enjoyed the sunshine that streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
“This event is the start of many more to come,” adds Chizda. “We’re looking forward to a busy year.”
