Commitment to Accessibility

The RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg is committed to providing a barrier-free environment, ensuring equal access and participation for guests with disabilities. We are committed to meeting the requirements of the The Accessibility for Manitobans Act and have established policies and procedures that respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities.

Policy Availability

The Centre will maintain its accessibility policy in written format. Upon request, it will be made available to the public and provided in an accessible format that meets the needs of the recipient.

The RBC Convention Centre provides visitors with a fully accessible environment to ensure ease and enjoyment of all activities in and around the Convention Centre.

  • Wheelchair accessibility
  • Complimentary transport chairs available on a first-come first-served basis at our security desk on the second floor of the north building
  • Automatic motion activated sliding entrance door on York Avenue. All other entrances are equipped with activation switches and push buttons
  • Passenger elevators equipped with raised panel and Braille keys
  • Elevators located in all corners of the north building
  • Conveniently located central bank of elevators in south building
  • All washrooms equipped with wheelchair accessible stalls and sinks
  • Access to gender neutral washrooms
  • Designated disabled parking stalls in both north and south parkades
  • TTY Pay Telephone on the first-floor southeast concourse of the north building
  • Wheelchair access ramp and designated seating area in 2nd floor Presentation Theatre
  • Climate controlled skywalk system that connects to Delta Winnipeg and other entertainment venues, restaurants and hotels throughout downtown Winnipeg
  • Accommodations are available, on request, for candidates taking part in any aspect of the recruitment process, and we will work with employees to provide workplace accommodations for temporary or permanent disabilities.

RBC Convention Centre received a Circle of Excellence accessibility award by the City of Winnipeg’s Access Advisory Committee for excellence in physical accessibility (stairs, elevators, ramps and doors); sensory accessibility (lighting, sound and acoustics, texture finishes and colours); universal and accessible washrooms; context specific accessibility (budget, wow factors, meeting public and user needs) and service area accessibility (waiting areas, parking and outdoor access).

Security

The RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg operates 24-hour security of the facility with the Security/Information office located in the North Building on the 2nd floor, across from the Centre Place Café and adjacent to the general office.

First Aid Services

Security staff is equipped in basic first aid for initial response. There are four automated external defibrillators (AED) in the building (main floor/York entrance; second floor/security desk and third floor/ Hall A east and west concourse).  For events that require specific levels of first aid on site, pre-arranged services must be contracted and can be arranged.

Non Smoking Policy

In accordance with the City of Winnipeg By-Law No. 88/2003, non-smoking conditions apply for all events held at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg.  For full information on the City of Winnipeg By-Law No. 88/2003, call 311.
