Community Connections
The RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg is committed to making a difference in all aspects of our community.
- Our Executive team are active volunteers on various boards and committees including membership on the Chamber of Commerce Truth and Reconciliation Committee, Special Olympics and Better Business Bureau to name a few.
- Our Convention Centre Cares committee organizes community outreach initiatives and works closely with organizations. We have provided volunteers to clean downtown spaces during Earth Day; donated food, goods and water to organizations in need or most recently, collected much needed household items for Ukrainian refugees who are new to our city.
- The RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg is honoured to have joined other businesses, community leaders and organizations by signing the City of Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord.
- Our vision is to foster a culture within our Centre where the key principles of truth and reconciliation are aligned with our values. We endeavor to develop respectful relationships with the Indigenous community and in doing so, provide resources to our events and guests that support the Winnipeg Indigenous Accord, the Truth and Reconciliation Report and the Calls to Action.
- In response to Call to Action #92, we have developed a plan to provide on-going coaching and training to our leadership team, front line staff and contracted convention centre partner agencies which has included participation in the KAIROS blanket exercise, sharing circles, lessons on the Truth and Reconciliation Act and discussions facilitated by a Knowledge Keeper. Content from the training has been introduced into our new hire orientation training that is given to all new staff of the Centre.
