Rough winter doesn’t slow construction
Construction Update – March 2014
There’s no denying that this winter has been brutal. Record breaking frigid temperatures with enormous amounts of snow has resulted in frost bitten fingers, rosy cheeks and frustrated Winnipeggers dreaming of warmer temperatures and seasonal weather.
But looking across at the construction site on York Avenue you would never know how crazy this winter season has been.
It’s been “business as usual” for the hearty construction workers from Stuart Olson Dominion. Aside from a day or two of dangerous strong winds, work has progressed smoothly and continues to be on schedule and on budget.
Four new elevator shafts for the new building are complete and are clearly visible on the construction site. But starting next week, the tallest structure will be the new cranes. Steel will start arriving and installation will begin with a scheduled completion date of mid-September.
In our existing facility, a hoarding wall is being erected in the south end of the third floor. Watch for demolition of the south façade beginning at the end of March.
Remember to continue to check out our construction cam and watch the progress taking shape this month.
