Building Excitement

On October 30, four days ahead of schedule, we obtained our interim occupancy permit from the City of Winnipeg. On March 1, 2016 we will receive our full occupancy permit as we continue to be on time and on budget.

The interim permit will allow us to open our third floor to the Grey Cup Festival and host a 2,200 guest Gala Dinner on November 28th. The City View Room, with its floor to ceiling windows, will be the site of the first dinner to be held in our new expanded building. The sold-out event will treat guests to a beautiful view while enjoying a gourmet meal and live performances by CBC star Gerry Dee and Canadian icon Randy Bachman.

Once Grey Cup weekend is behind us, the focus will be on finishing the remaining minor cosmetic and architectural components as well as the installation of furniture, fixtures and kitchen equipment.

The streets and sidewalks surrounding our building are back to normal with all lanes open to traffic. With landscaping and softscaping complete, the new trees and shrubs bordering our building will be in full bloom this spring when we officially open our doors.

For the first six weeks after we open, our third floor exhibition hall will be home to a variety of consumer shows while the rest of the building will be hosting national and international conventions and major events simultaneously.

2016 is shaping into an extremely busy year – setting the groundwork for a prosperous future to come.
