Accessibility
  • The Centre is wheelchair accessible. The main entrance (York Avenue) is equipped with automatic motion activated sliding doors.
  • Alternate entrances are located at the Northeast (Carlton Street & St. Mary Avenue) and Northwest (Edmonton Street & St. Mary Avenue) corners of the facility. These entrances have manual doors.
  • Four passenger elevators located at the south and north corners of the building and operate between the two lower parkade levels and first and second floors with controlled access to the third floor exhibition hall.
  • The Southwest Elevator (Carlton Street & York Avenue) is designated as disabled access during any public events where entrance is controlled via ticket/invitation. During public events, this elevator is controlled by an elevator operator.
  • Escalators and stairs are located at the main entrance (York Avenue) as well as the northwest and northeast corners. All lead to the second floor level.
  • Escalators and stairs are also located at the south end of the second floor level connecting to the third floor exhibit hall.
  • A TTY Pay Telephone unit is located in the Southeast Concourse/first floor level.
  • Washrooms located on all three floor levels are equipped with wheelchair accessible stalls/sinks.
  • Disabled groups attending events on the third floor level can pre-arrange for vehicles to use the third floor loading dock. This allows direct access to the exhibition hall. Make arrangements through your Event Coordinator.
  • The Presentation Theatre, located on the second floor level, is equipped with wheelchair ramps, wheelchair seating area and wheelchair access ramp to the stage.
  • The Centre is connected to the Delta Winnipeg hotel via a climate controlled skywalk located at the northeast corner of the facility, second floor level.
Security
  • The Centre operates 24-hour security of the facility with the Security/Information office located on the 2nd floor (South), across from the Centre Place Café and adjacent to the general office.
  • Event Security requires additional staff levels. The Centre can provide Event Security quotations upon request via your Event Coordinator.
  • Public Events require specific security coverage and public access control as set out in the Centre's regulations (See your Event Coordinator for specifics).
First Aid Services
  • The Centre's Security staff is equipped in basic first aid for initial response, however, where organizations require specific levels of first aid on site, pre-arranged services must be contracted. This can be done via the Centre or contracted directly (see Suppliers Section).
SOCAN
    Pursuant to a license agreement between the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), the Centre is obligated to collect SOCAN license fees, in accordance with applicable tariffs, from all licensees and users of the facility in respect of the performance of musical works on the premises which are arranged for or authorized by the Licensee. If you have arranged for music at your event, provided by any exhibitors, the Centre will assess the SOCAN licensing fees payable by you, in accordance with the applicable tariff. For further information on these services, contact your Event Coordinator.
Labour Organizations
    The Winnipeg Convention Centre has employees/labour contracts with the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 500 and the Operating Engineers of Manitoba Local 987.

    Local 63 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators of the Untied States and Canada (I.A.T.S.E.) must be utilized for any events requiring specialized lighting, sound and other theatrical equipment for events or performances on our third floor/exhibition hall level.

    The Centre also has service contracts with Securitas for security services and Bee-Clean (Manitoba) for housekeeping services.
