For three days in October, Winnipeg will be welcoming delegates from across the country as they attend the 5th annual National Conference on Ending Homelessness at the RBC Convention Centre.
End Homelessness Winnipeg has partnered with the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness to bring this national conference to Winnipeg October 25 to 27, 2017
With a special focus on Indigenous homelessness, Truth & Reconciliation and Social Justice, Winnipeg will welcome policy makers, funders, researchers, advocates, community leaders and front line workers who will gather for inspiration, information, tools and training.
To be held in conjunction with the conference and to continue the conversation, on Thursday October 26, the 6th annual CEO Sleepout will move its outdoor, overnight campsite from Portage and Main to York Avenue.
Coordinated by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and its new partner End Homelessness Winnipeg, the CEO Sleepout will take place on the convention centre’s street level plaza along York and has attracted chief executive officers and community leaders including the convention centre’s own president and CEO, Klaus Lahr.
“The RBC Convention Centre is proud to host the CEO Sleepout,” said Lahr. “It’s important that we work together to find solutions to reduce homelessness in our community.”
Since its inception in 2011, the CEO Sleepout has raised over $800,000 and has helped employ 137 people, adding up to more than 51,000 hours of employment. The collective goal for this year’s event is to hit the $1 million in total fundraising.
